funny. the republicans weren't at all bothered about GWB wrecking the economy for 8 years, but now that the whole mess has to be sorted by democrats (just like after every republican president before this) they're suddenly crying their greedy little eyes out.

I always find it amusing that the Democrats believe that spending money saves money. The lunacy of Robin Hood doesn't work either, but the Dems will try it. You have to LOVE the pork bellied legislation "President Change" has already signed, and there is more on the way. No sympathy for the idiots that voted for him. You wanted him, now you got him...Enjoy!!!

You're being ridiculous. For example, preventative care saves lots of money. So does buying car insurance.

My god. Open your eyes and drop your dogmatic belief that republicans are better with money. They're not. They just give you tax cuts. But this drives up the national Debt.

Clinton was the only one to have a balanced budget.

Period.

I can't believe you americans still believe this garbage.

As for "pork barrelled legislation" would it interest you to know that 9 of the 20 biggest "pork barrel" portions of the budget were inserted by REPUBLICANS?? No?

Didn't think so. That would be a pie in the face so we don't want to acknowledge facts now do we....

LMAO!!!

Clinton's budget was never balanced. This country hasn't had a balanced budget in 50 years.

You are obviously a democrat who has been spoon fed that garbage about how you have to spend money to save money. Sorry, it doesn't work that way

democrats are opposed to tax cuts huh? Alright then, explain to me who exactly pays for all of the democrat spending??? Ahh yes, the tax payers. Now I get it. The government should spend more money, so the tax payers can spend more. Makes perfect sense. Now, if you cut taxes, the idiots have less money to spend, and the tax payers pay less money. Wow...novel idea!!! Of course the democrats don't like that because their membership doesn't save as much (I guess the fact that the majority of the poor, all of the illegals (none of which pay taxes in the first place) don't get squat). Perhaps this is why the dems want to shower their people with Free??? money (not sure who is supposed to pay for this "free" money).

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Things you say are called "Opinions"
Things I say are called "Facts"

Until you drop the former and embrace the latter, you are banish-ed romeo.

Here are some facts. Now, please ignore them and shower us with your opinions...talk about "unexpected revenues and dot com bubbles", yammer on about book cooking....we will quite enjoy it.

Since most of those posting here are not Americans, the subject of Federal budgets, accounting practices, and the protocol of government expenditures are probably not well understood. While the President gets the credit and the blame for nearly everything, the budget process is largely controlled by Congress. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives and it is therefore interesting to look at the 'surpluses' in the Clinton years in light of the Republican control of the House from 1995 on. The quotes around the surpluses reflects the unusual and I think misleading way in which Social Security income and spending is allocated.

It surprises me how passionate and irate some of our neighbors get over our politics. I am interested on occasion in what happens in Canada and Mexico, but I seldom think myself qualified to post rants about their politics which I'm sure I don't understand well at all, despite having been involved in the paper industry in both countries for two decades.

Oh, and the comment about all our debt is all too true. Bad luck for you.

the movements of the world's largest economy affects my wealth directly, within seconds from any big political decisions. I try to understand such things.
